Loanwords are words that are adopted from one language into another. They are "loaned' because they are usually not changed in their adoption. Loanwords are also sometimes called borrowings.
(text-style:"bold","expand")[(text-colour:#3de600)[Why do we have loanwords?]]
There are many concepts that do not exist in different languages acrross the world for one reason or another. Many loanwords are cultural, geographical, or environmental in nature because the communicative needs of languages in different places will vary greatly. Loanwords are a result of cultural and knowledge exhange, and recentyl, the result of globalization.

Subject: Unknown Religious Words
Hello Archivist,
I'll get straight to the point. My grandparents often use words that I can never find in the government dictionary, can you help me understand where these wrods come from? They also seem to hold some sort of religious signifigance to them?
My gradnmother often makes these snacks she calls "knishes". And there was another time my gradfather told me story of a game he played with something called a "dreidel". He let slip that he'd play it during a "holiday" which I'd also never head of but I assume it has religious signifigance from the name.
Thank you.

Subject: Old Travel Brochure
Hello Archivist,
I found this link on some sketchy forum, so I hope this reaches you and that you're actually able to help. I found this old pamphlet in the back of my Mom's closet. I recognize a few of the words, which is odd because it looks like it's in one of the old languages. I'm intersted to know which one.
The pictures on it are of food. The words I recognize are "dine", "mutton", and "salmon".
Thanks.

Thanks for your help last time. I've really been enjoying learning French and I'd like to learn another old language from the same 'family'. Could you give me some suggestions and materials?
Thanks again!

Subject: War Game History
Hello Archivist,
I've been getting really into the war game lately, and I've been researching old strategies and openings but I've found that a lot of the words in the documents are redacted. The war game isn't a banned activity so I was surprised to discover this and I wanted to know what old language these terms come from. The war game isn't that old so they should have been adopted into English within the modern era, I assume.
Thank you,

I wanted to know more about you, and where you work. How many archivists are there? Where is the archive located? Is it a secure location?
Thanks to you.

This might seem like a dumb question but there has to be banned word for 'hair soap'. Conditioner has its own word- so why just 'hair soap' for it's counterpart? It's just always bothered me. I could be wrong, and if theis isn't a question worth divulgin such precious information over I understand.
Thank you.

[[The Archive->Home1]]Your work as the archivist is risky and thankless but you take pride in providing bits of lost information to those who seek it. This job is and will continue to be yours until you no longer wish to have it or can no longer execute it.
One day someone will replace you. Hopefully, whoever they are, they will take their work as seriously as you do.
Thank you Archivist.

There is too much variation and choice in the world when information is free. It makes life harder, sadder, more complicated. Frivilous interests and whims do not need to always been explored to fulfillment.
You've learned this from working at the archive and now you've takne it upon yourself to keep people 'safe'. Safe from their own curiosity. Those who wish to rebel from society need to understand that this is all for the greater good.

In many ways misinformation is just another form of propaganda.
You have been dismissed from your job as the archivist. The owner archive has been forced to move it's location at the risk of you exposing it's wherabouts. Though even if you did tell someone, maybe you wouldn't even take care to tell them the truth.
You are dismissed Archivist.
